Where is the French Riviera?
The French Riviera is located in the southeast of France and also includes the principality of Monaco. This is just north of Corsica and Sardinia and northwest of Italy. The main towns are Nice, where we have one of our offices, Cannes, Monaco, and Saint Tropez. All of them have their own harbor and access to the Mediterranean Sea. Here is a map that will show you their position accurately:
What to do in the French Riviera?
The French Riviera is famous for its beaches and the luxurious resorts you can find, so you won’t have any trouble finding somewhere to work on your tan. As a popular destination, the area hosts several events throughout the year. The Cannes Film Festival, for example, is an annual event that sees the biggest celebrities walk the red carpet to watch the latest movie releases; a lovely place for any movie aficionado.
Monaco has another very famous yearly event with its Formula 1 Grand Prix that takes place in the streets of the principality. Since all 4 main towns in the area have their own harbor, you could consider renting a yacht to enjoy the warm waters of the Mediterranean Sea. Our yachting partner can find you the best yachts available for the duration of your stay.
If you feel the need to exercise, you can go wakeboarding in St Tropez with Adventure Sports or hire a jet ski in Nice or even go for a walk in the Parc forestier du Mont-Boron for a beautiful view of Nice city.
If you are interested in architecture, you can head to Monaco to see the old town and the Prince’s Palace, or to Nice to visit the Basilique Notre-Dame, or even to the Zitadelle von St. Tropez. If museums are more your speed, Nice has two: the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art and the Museum of Fine Arts, while Monaco can entertain the whole family with its Musée Océanographique.
On your way out, you can stop for a drink in the Casino Cafe de Paris, then, in the evening, you can dine in La Montgolfiere, one of the best restaurants in Monaco. Finally, why not spend your night in Nice, which has bars and clubs for everyone, such as the Jazz Comedie Club and Le Ghost Pub, with its DJs.
The French tourist board has made a video to show some of the main towns in the French Riviera:
Where to stay in the French Riviera?
The Hermitage Monte Carlo hotel in Monaco is located just above the harbor, near the Casino. It’s the perfect place to stay, especially when you have hired your own yacht. Its spa and sauna are being renovated until October 2014 but you can still book a massage. Two swimming pools are available, one indoors, the other outside, as well as a health club, a hair salon, a tennis court, a squash room, a conference room, and a business center.
Services include tour/ticket assistance, childcare, safe-deposit box, dry cleaning, spa treatments, and free access to the nearby fitness center. Bedrooms are equipped with air conditioning, minibar, desk, safe, satellite TV, Wi-Fi, and wired internet (available for a small fee), and turndown service. Each bedroom is individually furnished and decorated, so each stay can be different or the same, depending on your tastes.
Dining options include three restaurants: Le Vistamar, Le Limon, and the Crystal Bar. The first is specialized in French cuisine, while the other two serve only light fare.

The airports and helipads (that you can see on the map) connect the towns together faster than roads would. In the area, it is very easy to rent a helicopter and make short hops from one airport to the other even if you need to fly several times a day. Of course, if you prefer using jets, it is also possible to use them to reach any of the airports.
