It’s true, I really do adore the South of France especially the Cap d’Antibes situated between Cannes and Nice. So lucky lucky me, I spent all of last week visiting our Nice office and of course the sun was shining. We were staying at the very lovely Juana Hotel in Juan les Pins, its all Art Deco and step back in time elegance. Juan les Pins in case you don’t know it, is a buzzy, quirky little town and in the summer its absolutely vibrant and buzzing with life and Jazz and magnificent firework displays that you can sit with your toes in the sand and watch in awe (are you getting the picture?).
The Cap itself, just around the corner, is largely covered with the gardens and huge villas of the rich and famous, you can’t even see the villas, apart from tightly closed entrance gates. It’s one of the most exclusive places on the Riviera, the roads are empty and the coastline and views outstanding, and I feel right at home there, (be very afraid Mr C).
We wandered into Cannes one evening as its just a short distance drive along the coast. A great place to sit and people watch on the Croissette is the beautiful Belle Etoile style Ritz Carlton Hotel on their lovely terrace, with a glass of crisp Provence wine, just perfect. And there we were, minding our own business when who should stroll by but our good friend Bill Hurley. Yes, father of Daniel ‘the mighty’ Hurley who works in our Fort Lauderdale office. (Thought for the day…if Dan is ‘the mighty’ Hurley, does that make his father ‘the Almighty’?) Anyway, I digress. Bill was with another good friend of ours, Suzanna Huins, (to the right is a pic of me, Bill and Suzanna) who I might add is a very good contact if you are looking to buy a stunning villa anywhere along this stretch of the Riviera, so feel free to call me if you need her contact details.
We decided go dine together, and Mr C plumped for one of his personal favourites, Felix restaurant where we enjoyed some fabulous French cuisine. Bonne appetite!
So there was some work to be done, and interviews for additional staff for our Nice office before the season there swings into gear and everyone gets crazy busy.
But we did manage to persuade our lovely Marina Biale and Derek Daamgard to join us for an evening at the famous ‘la Petite Maison’ in Nice. It’s where all the Celebrities go when they are in town, (thats a pic of us under the ‘all celebrities here’ sign), and I hear its also Mr Sarkozys favourite eatery when he happens to be in Nice, and I have to say I wouldn’t disagree with him.
So we ended the week with great ambience, great food, great wine and oh no….a large bottle of Limcello. Sante! Need I say more!! How’s your head Marina??
